Transitional weather, solved
Spring Outfits
Spring is not a season, it is three different days inside the same day: you leave in the cold, have lunch in the sun and come home in the wind. That is why it is the time of year most people get wrong — they dress for the hour they walk out the door and not for the other twelve.
These looks are built for exactly that: a base that stands on its own when the sun hits, and a light layer that solves the morning and the evening without changing your whole outfit.

How to get it right
One light layer, always
A trench, an overshirt, fine knit or a denim jacket. Spring is solved by the piece you can take off and carry in one hand — the winter coat is already too much by March.
Color comes back, but in order
This is the season to bring out color, and the way not to overdo it is the usual one: one colored piece over a neutral base. Soft green, sky blue, butter or dusty pink over ecru, denim or beige.
Transitional footwear
Not winter boots, not sandals yet: loafers, ballet flats, clean sneakers or a fine ankle boot. It is the detail that most gives away an outfit still stuck in the previous season.
Frequently asked questions
How do I dress when mornings are cold and afternoons are warm?
A short-sleeve or sleeveless base that works alone, a shirt or fine knit over it, and a light outer layer. Three pieces you remove in order. What does not work is one thick garment: you either roast or freeze, with nothing in between.
Which pieces solve spring?
A trench, a denim or linen shirt, fine cotton knit, straight jeans, chinos and a midi skirt. With those and two pairs of transitional shoes you are dressed every day from March to May.
Can I wear denim with denim in spring?
Yes, and it is one of the easiest combinations of the season: separate the tones (one light, one mid or dark) and finish with neutral shoes and accessories. The same wash top and bottom is the only version that reads as a uniform.
